| Course Description | After participation and completion of the Green Construction Technician program, a completer should demonstrate training related work skills suitable for employment. Beyond basic safety, tools, materials usage, construction methods and job site awareness, the student learner will participate in a course of training where life issues information and workforce staging are actively included and promoted as preparation for employment. Following written application, interviewing and selection, the core of the course begins as the student acquires knowledge and hands on skills development within the trade areas of basic construction. Green Construction is more theory and application of current and advanced industry standards of carpentry, plumbing, heating/air conditioning systems and/or residential electrical. Learner Activity Packets (LAPS) that are related to energy efficiency, energy sources, cost controls, local ordinances, building codes, environmental impact, recycling, current issues and so on. The curriculum of preference is from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and will be delivered with LAPS which are self-paced. Each LAP will contain a list of instructional materials and assignments required for completion of that LAP. Material will include text, video, assignment sheets, job sheet, supplemental applied mathematics associated with construction trades, and computer software based interactive instruction. |
