Native American Outreach
The CareerTech System is proud of Oklahoma's rich Native American heritage and culture. In FY11, CareerTech served more than 28 tribes through its career development, reskill training, or business development programs. A 20-year partnership between Pontotoc Technology Center and the Chickasaw Nation has enhanced business practices and provided employees the skills they need to be competitive in the marketplace. Another pivotal partnership between the Choctaw Nation and Kiamichi Technology Center helped southeast Oklahoma earn the first "Work Ready Region" designation in the United States, create a Pre-Engineering Academy in Idabel, and establish a Cooperative Alternative School to help students achieve success.
Oklahoma Bid Assistance Network
The Oklahoma Bid Assistance Network is a statewide Procurement Technical Assistance Center that helps clients find and secure government contracts. Business clients include small disadvantaged and woman owned businesses as well as businesses located in HUBZones or those owned by service disabled veterans. In FY11, clients reported they received contacts totally $323,508,131 as a result of OBAN assistance.
Oklahoma Association of Minorities in Career and Technology Education
The Oklahoma Association of Minorities in Career and Technology Education is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of career and technology education among youth and adult minorities. OAMCTE promotes cultural diversity by providing economic and technical leadership, professional development opportunities, and scholarships to minority students.
Bilingual Learning Opportunities
To serve the growing Hispanic population the CareerTech System has added bilingual educational opportunities in customer service, automotive technology, first responder, health, and more.
