What
Employers Say About CareerTech's Safety and Health Training
"Your efforts, along with other company initiatives, have resulted in a 66
percent drop in OSHA recordable injuries. The combined company average of OSHA recordable
injuries for the previous five years had been 60. Last year that number dropped to 20,
meaning that 40 fewer employees went home injured. You have helped us get into compliance.
But more importantly, many of our families have not had to face personal and financial
loss because of your help."
Preliminary figures indicate at least a 10 percent reduction in the number of
injuries reported by city employees and a 30 percent reduction in lost man-hours.
After implementing the training program, accidents involving employees with less
than one year of service showed a 20 percent reduction.
I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of training provided and the ability
of your instructors to adapt to the wide variety of training scenarios our employees
represent. Over the past four months, your office has provided training to over 300 of our
employees.
In 1995 we had 67 OSHA recordable injuries; in 1996 there were 50 OSHA recordable
injuries; in 1997 we dropped to 23 OSHA recordable injuries, and so far this year we have
had ZERO. This has had an extremely positive impact on our worker's compensation cost over
the past three years.
. . . the forklift training we received during the third quarter has made a
positive impact. We have had only one broken pallet to date, down from an average of 12
pallets.
The assistance provided by House Bill 1447 is invaluable. An on-site review of the
current status of a business's safety program and assistance with education and training
provided in a nonthreatening atmosphere and on a time schedule convenient to the owner is
close to perfect.
The lost-time injury rate per 200,000 hours worked (OSHA's measurement standard) so
far this year is 7.9 compared to 10.5 for each of the previous two years - a 25 percent
reduction." |
