To accommodate the increased demand placed on technology centers for customized training for companies that must re-tool and/or re-train to remain competitive and retain jobs. JUSTIFICATION: Oklahoma’s economic future will largely depend on the ability of technology centers to provide training for existing business and industry to remain competitive and grow in the marketplace. Frequently this requires providing the existing workforce with upgrade training or training on new systems or equipment. Technology centers have a mission to respond to these needs by designing customized industry training programs. The Training for Existing Industry Initiative FY10 funds will allow technology centers to establish more partnerships through cost shared training with business and industry that will produce economic growth.
