*Attached is the application for the OAMCTE scholarshipsOne of the goals of OAMCTE scholarship program is to provide assistance to deserving minority students who plan to further their education through CareerTech.  Please distribute to anyone you feel may be interested.  Deadline is May 9. 
*Attached is a copy of the application for the Minority Teacher Recruitment/Retention scholarship sponsored by the CareerTech Foundation.  Please note that incumbent teachers working towards certification are now eligible.  Please distribute to anyone you feel may be interested.  Deadline is June 5.
 
Oklahoma Youth Leadership Forum
For the past 4 years, the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council has offered a free leadership camp on the campus of USAO in Chickasha -- the Oklahoma Youth Leadership Forum. The camp is for juniors and seniors with disabilities and focuses on leadership, assistive technology, independent living, higher education, career development options and Oklahoma legislative process.
 
The facilitators of the camp are teachers or psychology students and the camp is free. The Council will also reimburse travel and aide expenses of families. More information and the applications are available on their website: http://www.okddc.ok.gov/youth_leadership_forum.html

The ODCTE will sponsor Regional Counselor Workshops, targeted for both comprehensive and tech center counselors coming up next fall.  Topics covered will include career majors, cooperative alliances, career and academic planning/advisement, and CTE options and ACE.  Dates and locations:
-September 9 at Indian Capital TC, Muskogee campus
-September 10 at Northwest TC, Fairview campus
-September 16 at Tulsa Tech, Riverside campus
-September 17 at Metro Tech, Springlake campus
-September 24 at Great Plains TC, Lawton campus
 
Website tool
Editorial Projects in Education Research Center has developed an online tool that allows users to find their school district (or any school district in the nation) and download a special report for the district with detailed information on graduation rates that includes an analysis of where students are lost from the high school pipeline.  The reports also compare district results with state and national figures.

Regents Summer Academies
22 FREE Summer Academies will be held this summer at different Oklahoma colleges and universities.  These math, science and technology academies are for Oklahoma residents who will be entering the 8th – 12th grades in the fall 2008.

The federal government has a website: (www.govbenefits.gov) that is its official benefits website.  This website provides access and information to more than 1000 benefit and assistance programs in that nation, including numerous education related programs. Users can complete the confidential questionnaire and receive a customized list of benefits that they may be eligible to receive.
