Counselor Conference:
As you may have already guessed: due to many issues, there will be no counselor conference this year.  However, tentative plans are already underway to work with the SDE to continue the counselor conference in 2012. 

New Staff Person on Board
Levi Valdois has joined us as the new Career and Academic Systems Specialist.  (Levi took Natalie Gay's position.)  We are excited to have Levi on our staff.  Levi is a man of many talents and we are looking forward to tapping into the technical expertise he bring to this job.  His contact information is lvald@okcareertech.org, 405.743.5573. 

Superintendent"s Weekly Message
Every week, Superintendent Barressi give a 2-3 minutes video that provides a weekly update on SDE happenings.  This week, she talked about presenting at Tulsa Tech's induction of their National Technical Honor Society students and the approval of Caddo-Kiowa Tech Center Pre-Engineering Academy.  Check it out at: sde.state.ok.us/Default.aspx

Also due to the time spent out of school for snow days, the SDE has extended the testing dates for the comprehensive schools.  Click here to download (you can also find it on their website). 

CRC Project
There will be a series of workshops given across the state targeted to business and industry on what the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) project is all about and how it can help them.  Please share the flyer with your BIS staff and others who you feel may benefit from this information.  Download Flyer

Alliance of Career Resource Professionals
You may want to check out this website: http://acrpro.org  Two well known associations (in the career information system world) merged this year into one.  America's Career Resource Network Association and the Association for Computer-Based Career Information Systems merged to form the Alliance of Career Resource Professionals.  The website contains the National Career Development Guidelines and a host of other resources.  (FYI-Jo Kahn serves as president of this new association.)

Dr. Connie Fox will be the feature speaker presenting on eating disorders. Breakout sessions will be offered on Mean Girls, PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System), QPRSI (Question Probe Response Suicidal Intervention), RAMP & OSCAR certification, Different and the Same and 3 hours of Ethics. 5 CEU's will be offered.
