The Oklahoma Association of Career and Employment Professionals (OACEP) is planning a 1 1/2 day retreat/workshop October 9-10 at the state lodge at Quartz Mountain near Altus. 2008 Summit on Economic & Workforce Development (2008 Midwest WorkKeys Conference)

Oklahoma Economic Development Council is hosting a thirteen state Summit on Economic and Workforce Development on October 27-28, 2008 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

-Academic Course Implementation Guidelines for Career and Technology Education Students

This memo (dated Sept. 2007) is a recap of current law authorizing technology centers to offer certain academic courses to students.  Technology centers have multiple options for offering academic courses to their career and technology education (CTE) students.  SB 982 and HB 1792 have implemented the Achieving Classroom Excellence (ACE) legislation.  Each option has a unique set of requirements and conditions to assure adherence to law and sound educational practice.

Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has developed a back to school resource to share with parents. The Family Guide Web site features articles and resources about sending children back to school. Whether your children are starting second grade or senior year, you'll find information to keep them mentally healthy and drug free. SAMHSA's Family Guide Web site has an entire section dedicated to "Back to School" resources and includes a multitude of topics such as helping with homework, issues making friends, dealing with back-to-school blues, etc. To access this resource, go to
