Your plan of study should be customized to reflect your school's current course offerings as well as those at your local technology center and colleges.
Choosing high school courses is an important part of career exploration and decision making. In order to make the best choices, students need to know the full range of options available in high school. Therefore, it is important for students to have a process to help them know where they are headed. Plans of study are valuable in achieving this goal. The plans of study may be used when eighth-grade students begin scheduling their high school courses. Eighth graders may be unaware of the choices available or the courses they need to take if they are interested in a particular career. They also need to understand the consequences of not planning, such as losing control over their future and decreasing their potential earnings.
