Opening General Session

Opening General Session will be held in arena of the Cox Convention Center from 10:00am – 11:30am on Monday, August 4. This session will include opening remarks from our state director, Dr. Phil Berkenbile along with the OkACTE Presidential candidate speeches and several award presentations. The keynote speaker will be Suzie Humphreys, an entertaining and inspiring speaker.

Award Recipients and Nominees are asked to sit in reserved seating on the floor of the arena to help maintain the pace of the program.  Division honorees include Outstanding Educator, New Professional, Outstanding New Teacher, Kaleidoscope, Outstanding Teacher in Community Service, OATC Distinguished Achievement, OkACTE Distinguished Service and Teacher of the Year.  Other awards that may be presented include Support Staff Member of the Year, the Arch Alexander Award along with the Francis Tuttle Award.  Silver Key Recipients will be honored at divisional award ceremonies.

The Oklahoma ACTE New Member/First-Timer Orientation
The OkACTE New Member/First-Timer Orientation is tentatively scheduled Monday, August 4, 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Cox Convention Center, Rooms 4-5.  All new employees in the CareerTech system (except teachers who have their own division orientation) and employees unfamiliar with Summer Conference are encouraged to attend this session.  

The purpose of this orientation is to explain registration, the benefits of membership in the OkACTE and the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) and the format and purpose of Summer Conference.

Second General Session
The Second General Session: Will be held Monday, August 4, 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the arena of the Convention Center.  This general session includes the OkACTE President's Greeting, Executive Director's Address, the State Superintendent’s greeting and award, and the Gold Star School Awards. In addition the newly elected OkACTE President-elect will be announced.

OAMCTE
The Oklahoma Association of Minorities in Career and Technology Education (OAMCTE) will host their Annual Reception, Monday, August 4, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Langston Urban Center. (See Map) The Annual OAMCTE Business Meeting will be held Monday, August 4, 11:30 a.m- 1:30 p.m. also in the Sheraton Hotel.

OCLA Luncheon
The Oklahoma Council for CareerTech Administrators (OCLA) Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday , August 5, at 11:30 a.m. Cox Convention Center Ballroom A/B.  Paying for this luncheon is part of your online conference registration.  Tickets will not be sold at Summer Conference. (download flyer here)

The OkACTE Officer Leadership Seminar is scheduled Tuesday, August 5, 7:30a.m – 10:15 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, Room Plaza Ballroom. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m.  Each division should send the President, President-elect, past President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Reporter. In addition, each division should send only one Vice-President. OkACTE would like for any advisor who has never attended Leadership Seminar to attend.
