Activity
Lead a class discussion on post-secondary education and training requirements needed to be competitive in today's job market.
Discuss with students the tentative plans they might have for education beyond high school graduation.
What are your educational plans?
Are the educational plans appropriate for the kinds of occupations you wish to pursue as an adult?
What can you do now and in the coming high school years?
Remind the students that it is not too early in life to begin thinking about whether they plan to discontinue their education immediately after high school or to go on to post-secondary education/training.
Have the students write a brief description of their tentative educational plans based on this activity.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated on their written summaries and class participation.
