Archived copy of Kelly's Email for the month of August 2012

Happy August! With the start of the new school year, here is the start of the monthly emails.  You are on this list due to your job duties or you have requested to be on the list.  You can "un-subscribe" at any time -  just let me know.  Otherwise, on with the show!

Summer Conference (SC): We have several of SC Presentations now online.    The link to see the presentations is:http://www.okcareertech.org/educators/career-and-academic-connections/bulletin-board and click on 2012 Summer Conference Information “stickie.”   We have compiled the evaluations and they were very positive.  Thank you for your input as we always use the evaluations to help us with the next summer conference.

Student Services Endorsement Program
Please consider applying for the Student Services Endorsement (SSE) Program.   The Student Services Endorsement Program is designed to rapidly improve upon the existing foundation of skills for those practicing in technology centers in the student services area. You will hear from content experts in all student services areas, visit other technology centers, and meet great people with whom you can build a strong network of friends to contact for information.  It is designed for those who have been in the system 3 years or less but veteran members can also benefit.  The application can be found at: http://www.okcareertech.org/educators/career-and-academic-connections/bulletin-board and click on the SSE “stickie.”

A-F Implementation (attachment)
As you know, your partner schools have gone to a new A-F grading system with different points for different elements.  They are graded on Student Achievement, Student Growth and Whole School Performance.  Whole School Performance is where schools can earn points for CTE involvement. Tommi Leach has developed a one page flyer that outlines the specifics of whole school performance points that I think you will find useful.  It is attached.  More specific information can be found on the SDE website at: http://ok.gov/sde/f-grading-system

CRC Update (attachment)
There are many changes in CRC.   Please read the attachment to familiarize yourself with those changes.  Briefly, we will be moving to add the National Registrar number to our CRC, there will be a cost for CRC wallet cards if the site chooses to distribute those, and assessment sites licensed with ODCTE will be receiving a MOU for CRC recommendations and guidelines.  As always, please contact us if you have questions.

CareerTech Initiatives provides highlights of current system initiatives and partnership activities. The CareerTech Initiative document with updates is now available on the website at this link https://www.okcareertech.org/about/initiatives

OCAS Codes-Just a reminder: You can find OCAS codes for CTE classes on our website at: www.okcareertech.org/educators/ocas-codes
