Student Services Contacts, hope all is well as school is winding down. Next week, I will also be sending out another email with summer conference information so look for that.

New Student Services Academy (This information also went out to site directors.)

The New Student Services Academy targeted towards student services and academic center staff will be held in Stillwater at ODCTE on July 7-8, 2015.  It is critical that all new academic center and student services staff be present.  This includes academic center instructors and specialists, and those serving as guidance, career development, special needs, counseling, assessment, recruitment, and job placement personnel.  (New financial aid staff attending is strictly optional.  We do not cover specific financial aid regulations and/or guidelines.)  It does not include math or science teachers whose sole assignment is to an academy (bio-med, bio-tech, or pre-engineering) or who teach for academic credit.  They receive orientation and training through a different process.
If you have a new hire in the student services or academic center area, please email me the new staff (name, position, tech center campus and email or home address).  We will be emailing/sending out information about registration, agenda and other information to them about the academy.  If you have questions about this activity for student services or academic center staff, please contact me.  Click here for a draft agenda for your information.

OCAS Coding

Remember, help your partner schools get the right coding for our CTE courses. All courses, including CTE courses can be found at: (scroll to subject codes)

Last month we shared information with you that the OK State Board of Education had approved academic credit for certain math, science and computer technology courses taught at technology centers and select high schools. This continues to be correct for students on the CORE curriculum. However, the OK State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) must determine if these courses can count for college entrance for students on the College Prep/Work Ready curriculum, as well as OKPromise. At this time, both the SDE and the OK Dept. of CareerTech are waiting for the OSRHE to make this determination. We do hope to hear from them soon on their decision.  We realize you need this information and we will let you know the decision of the OSRHE as soon as it happens. Thank you for your patience with this. Please watch your email for updates this summer.
