OACEP Fall Conference
The Oklahoma Association of Career and Employment Professionals (OACEP) FALL CONFERENCE is scheduled for November 8 - 9, 2012 at Quartz Mountain Conference Ctr. in Lone Wolf, OK. The Registration Fee of $175 includes 2 Breakfasts, 2 lunches and heavy hors d'oeuvres at the networking function the first night. The speaker on the first day will be Elisabeth Sanders-Park, co-author of "No One is Unemployable". She will be presenting several sessions to attendees on career development, job search tools & training for the real world. Reminder: OK Assoc. of College Testing Personnel Call Conference at Moore Norman Tech Center (Main Campus) in Norman on Friday Oct. 12 from 8-4.  They need accurate numbers to order food service so if going, please register by October 5.  ACT and College Board representatives are on the program, as well as Stephanie Curtis from the OK Dept of ED about the new GED testing system.  To see agenda and register, click on: http://oactp.org/2012_fall_oactp_conference There will be time for open discussions on issues in testing for post-secondary schools, colleges, and university settings, not to mention food and prizes. 

Annual WorkKeys/CR101 Users Conference

Where: Moore/Norman South Penn Campus, 13301 S. Pennsylvania, OKC
When: October 17, 2012
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:35 p.m

From 8:30 - 9 a.m., we will have sign-in, purchase your lunch, coffee and time to chat. During this time, the Moore/Norman South Penn Cafe will have breakfast items for sale. Lunches must be purchased by 9:30 a.m. to ensure they are ready at lunch time. The opening session begins at 9 a.m. and the conference concludes at 3:35 p.m. Please plan to stay for the entire day. CRC Update Information
We are transitioning to the OKCRC with national RegiSTAR identification number. During this transition time, no reprints can be processed. Notification will be posted on this blog when reprints are available again.

The next batch of OKCRCs issued will contain the national RegiSTAR number. The changes include:

1. CRC wallet cards are for sale by assessment sites.

2. The letter to Oklahoma Business that has accompanied certificates previously is now online for site administrators to copy or print and provide to your credentialed individuals.

3. The Next Steps information is now available on okworkkeys.org, click on the job seekers page button.

4. The back of the OKCRC will contain the following activation information for the registered certificate with ACT:

In order to enable employers to verify your certificate, you must activate your account at NationalCareerReadiness.org. Once you activate your account, you must follow the steps to give permission for employers to verify your certificate level. Only people to whom you give your certificate number can access your information. For account security, change your password when first signing in. Account activation instructions are available at act.org/certificate/access_account

Staff Updates

I think most of you know this by now, but just in case:
-Shelynn Kelly started with our division July 1 as the Disability Services Specialist.  Previously that position had been vacant so we are so pleased Shelynn is filling this role. 
-Levi Valdois was promoted from Career Systems Specialist to Coordinator/Liaison of Military Initiatives.  Levi will be helping to coordinate a system of assisting veterans with transition to continuing education and/or the workforce.  He will be working with many agency partners and the field to help veterans with these transitions. 
-We are pleased to announce we have hired a replacement for the position of Career Systems specialist.  Courtney Arnall will be joining us on October 8.
