Student Services Endorsement Program
We still have some openings in the Student Services Endorsement Program (SSE). If you are a newly hired (or fairly newly hired) student services staff member, you will want to check out the program. The deadline has been extended to October 6. The application is attached. NOTE: SSE 2014 was cancelled.
Elevating Student Success Blog
We have a new blog that we invite you to follow. You can find this at: http://elevatingstudentsuccess.blogspot.com/ Every week, we will add at least one entry. If you would like to get email notifications when a new item is added, you can add your email address in the box that says: Follow by email. The subjects that we will blog about are: academics, career development, career information online system, diversity/equity, guidance/counseling, job search, and special needs.

According to CareerCast, you can look to see the 10 best and 10 worst jobs in Oklahoma. Career Cast is an online jobs database that ranked career paths through several measures, including income, employment outlook, stress, physical demands and working environment. If you attended Summer Conference in the student services area, you probably have one of our new brochures, but just in case! You can download the Career and Academic Staff staff brochure with contact info. We have new faces and/or new duties and we hope this will allow you to put faces to names!
The Career Guidance Network of Oklahoma will hold its fall conference on Friday, November 14th on the Tulsa Community College West Campus.
The conference will include a presentation by Dr. Pam Ehlers from OSU/Stillwater. Her topic will be: "New Technologies for Career Practitioners: The Next Generation". There will also be four career planning software program presentations by representatives from OK Career Tech (OKCIS), Kuder (Kuder Journey), Career Dimensions (FOCUS2), and Vocational Research Institure (CareerScope).CEU credits have been applied for and you will be notified when I receive approval. Based upon previous approvals, we expect 4.75 credits to be approved.
There is no cost for CGNO members, including lunch. The cost for nonmembers is $50, including lunch. A specific agenda will be forthcoming.
