Summer Conference

It was great to see all of you at Summer Conference!  We ask presenters if we might post their handouts/powerpoints on our website.  You can find these on the CAC website under the Bulletin Board link.  We have several online and a few more should be coming in so check back later as well.

Student Services Endorsement Program

This is the year for our Student Services Endorsement Program. The Student Services Endorsement Program is designed to rapidly improve upon the existing foundation of skills for those practicing in technology centers in the student services area. Student Services incorporates counselors, job placement/development staff, career specialists, career assessment staff, student services coordinators, and special needs coordinators.  It is designed for newly-hired technology center student services staff, but veteran staff can also benefit.   The applications can be found on the CAC website under the Bulletin Board.  You must apply and be accepted to attend.  Deadline to apply is September 22.


OK Career Guide is launching! 

Oklahoma Career Guide officially launches August 21!  This initial launch will serve students in grades six through 12 and adult users. The free training across the state are filling up fast; however check back as new training sessions are being added. In October, the system will be enhanced for a more Oklahoma-specific platform for postsecondary students and adult users. In Fall 2016, OK Career Guide will add a K-5 platform to begin early career education conversations with elementary school students. Link for signing up is on our CAC website:


GuidanceFest 2015

Join CareerTech and high school educators across the state at GuidanceFest, an annual statewide initiative conducted by Oklahoma CareerTech in partnership with Melissa White, State Department of Education and local technology centers. The annual event covers a wide range of career and technology education topics.

CTEEC Conference

The national Career and Technical Education Equity Council (CTEEC) Conference will be on September 24th and 25th, 2015 in Tulsa, OK at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  Check out the website to join CTEEC, and like them on Facebook to get conference information as it is announced.  Online registration is open.  Topics include:

OACEP Fall Conference

The Oklahoma Association of Career and Employment Professionals (OACEP) Fall Conference will be held October 29-30, 2015 at the Sequoyah Lodge just outside Wagoner, OK. The registration fee is $175  and includes 5 meals. The hotel rooms are $83 per night. The Conference emphasis is on Job Placement and topics include: Oklahoma Employment Outlook, Employability Skills, Placement of Ex-Felons, Disability in the Workplace, Using OK Career Guide, Conflict Resolution, How to Teach Job Search and Stress Management. ACTE Microdocs and Sector Sheets

ACTE’s Microdocs tell the stories of how career and technical education is changing the lives of learners  across the country. These short, five-minute videos chronicle how CTE prepares students for the high wage and high demand career fields of the 21st Century  By sharing the personal journey of individuals, and through their connection with a CTE program, they overcame barriers to set a course for their future.
