Agriculture Education - Degree in Education

Degree in Education
  1. Complete and pass the appropriate exam administered by the Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators.
  2. Upon review of official college transcript, a plan-of-study will be determined by a representative of an accredited university and occupational division staff of the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech Education.
  3. Additional credit hours may be needed to obtain a CareerTech Agriculture Education certification.  These hours must be completed, upon request of state program administrator, in order to teach within a CareerTech funded program.
  4. CareerTech requires that a minimum of nine (09) hours must be earned through college credit for alternatively certified teachers.  Teachers will have three (3) years to complete the plan-of-study. If they do not complete the plan of study in three years their school, in which they are employed, could face the loss of CareerTech funding for their program. Credit hours may included, but are not limited to, the following courses:
  • AGED 3103 - Foundations and Philosophies of Teaching
  • AGED 3203 - Planning the Community Program
  • AGED 5990 - Problems in Agricultural and Extension Education
  •  

    Degree in Field other than Education

    Alternative Placement Program

    Anyone denied admittance to an approved teacher education program or enrolled in and subsequently failed required teacher education courses necessary to meet the minimum requirements of a teacher education program is not eligible for the Oklahoma Alternative Placement Program.

    The Alternative Placement Program is administered through the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

    1. The applicant for this program must have earned a baccalaureate degree in a field of study that corresponds to an area of Oklahoma certification for a Secondary Certification or a Career Technology education Certificate.
    2. The applicant shall provide evidence of having three (3) years of appropriate trade experience in the field to be taught.
    3. Upon review of official college transcript, a plan-of-study will be determined by a representative of an accredited university and occupational division staff of the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech Education.
    4. Additional credit hours may be needed to obtain a CareerTech Agriculture Education certification.  These hours must be completed, upon request of state program administrator, in order to teach within a CareerTech funded program.
