College Credit Approved for EOC Tech Business Classes
by American Council On Education

(CHOCTAW, Oklahoma) The American Council on Education (ACE) approved college credit for Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center’s Business Information Technology (BIT) program. ACE evaluates courses nationwide, and determines if they meet the standards to be considered for college credit.

On August 3-4, ACE sent a team of experts in the subject areas they reviewed. The classes reviewed and approved for credit are taught in the following subject areas: Business Communications, Marketing, Computer Repair, Networking, Video Production, Multi Media, E-Commerce/Web Services, Accounting/Finance, Office Procedures, and Small Business.

“Students who attend EOC Tech’s BIT program can take the available classes, pay a minimal transcripting fee, and receive several hours of college credit,” said Carolyn Choat, EOC Tech BIT Instructor.

The review process started in May as EOC Tech BIT instructors reviewed existing credit courses and identified new courses to be reviewed by the ACE teams. During the course of the summer, BIT instructors completed the supporting documentation required by ACE for the accreditation process. On August 3-4th, reviewers did a comprehensive study of the program areas and asked questions of the instructors. ACE credit was awarded for all courses submitted for review.

“EOC Tech offers students the opportunity to not only receive the value of hands-on training and knowledge, but also the incentive of receiving ACE credit applied to their college transcripts,” said BIT Instructor, Tom Buntin.

Colleges and universities accept ACE credit for EOC Tech programs that are acceptable to their degree programs. Local universities and colleges who accept ACE credit include, Rose State, the University of Central Oklahoma, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, East Central University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
