Student Poetry

It’s Not Just My Job. It’s My Career!

A career is not just something to do, but it’s something that helps to describe you.
So I don’t want a job; don’t want to be in the mob.
I want a career.
A career that I can be proud of,
One that I have a passion for and love.
I know it will be tough, and the times will get rough,
But I’ll hang in there.
I’ll work hard, I promise, and do what’s right,
Even if it takes all night,
Just for a chance to shine,
And have a career that’s all mine.
I’ll put in my time, and I’ll work hard
And I’ll do what I can to help.
I’ll be there when needed,
And stay until my tasks are done.
I want to be successful in whatever I do
And wherever I go,
So, I’ll reach for the stars and keep my head up so that one day I can say
“ It’s not just my job. It’s my career.”

It’s Not Just My Job, It’s My Career as an Actor!

I am dramatic and creative.
I wonder if I will be a great actor.
I hear my director telling me what to do.
I see the beautiful set.
I want to improve myself.
I am dramatic and creative.
I pretend to act out my script.
I feel the stage light when it’s shining above me.
I touch the prop that I’m supposed to pick up.
I worry that I’ll forget my lines, but
I cry when I forget them.
I am dramatic and creative.
I understand how movies and plays are put together.
I say I want to take five.
I dream of what my next scene will look like.
I try to say my lines in the most outstanding way I can.
I hope I’ll get the best part.
I am dramatic and creative.

It’s Not Just My Job. It’s My Career!

I go to work each day
With a smile on my face
And a cheerful word to say
There are times I would like to quit
Then I quickly realize
I was throwing a selfish fit
I think about all the pleasure I give
And how I help people go on and live
See I’m a family physician
And I slowly make a difference in the world
With every diagnosis and decision
Yeah, it’s kind of tough some days
But . . . I got to say
I’m glad to be here
Because it’s not just my job, it’s my career!

“It’s Not Just My Job, It’s My Career!”

Filing taxes and doing reports
Are parts of my criteria?
Helping others with their financial reports
Is the part I enjoy most.
Numbers, figures, keeping accounts
Are all the same to me.
Joking, laughing, keeping count
This is not just a job to make me money,
It is the joy I get from working with numbers,
For I am a
CPA.

A Job? NO A Land Surveyor is the Career for Me

What do I want to be?
Something that fits me.
What about an actress?
I’ll wear a dress.
What about an inventor?
I can do much more.
My ideas are so great.
It’s so hard to choose.
What will I be?
Hmmm, lets see.
How about a land surveyor?
I can work in the sun, have lots of fun.
I will measure land, determine boundary lines.
I will know law and help settle boundary disputes.
I will read maps and have management skills.
I will take plans and lay them out on the ground.
But school comes first.
I need to know math, history, and geography.
The main things I will do are called topography and make maps of lands
and show elevation.
My ideas are so great.
It’s so hare to choose.
But I think I will be the one thing that suits me.
A LAND SURVEYOR!!!

Being An Author’s Not Just My Job

It’s My Career
Being an author will be hard
I’ll jot ideas down on back of a card
I’ll always write books that have suspense and are fiction
And if the publishers don’t want it I’ll sign a petition
It will take me a long time
To make up a mystery or a crime
It will take me a long time too
To make up just one book for you
But before I get all this knowledge
I have to go to college
And when I graduate
I’ll say, “Now I can be an author! Great!”
I’ll be the greatest author ever living
I’ll even be better than J.K. Rowling
Hopefully my books will be world famous
I hope people won’t call my books outrageous
