     DIRECTOR'S NOTES

CareerTech Vital To State's Education and Business
As the new director of the state’s Career and Technology Education Department I see challenging and exciting times ahead. While some say we have lost sight of our original mission, I like to say we have remained true to our original mission while changing to meet the demands of the people and industries we serve. Our mission is “to prepare Oklahomans to succeed in the workplace.”

In a move to strengthen accountability throughout the state, the State Board of Career and Technology Education today approved code of ethics guidelines for technology centers.

“This code of ethics puts into place a standard set of guidelines for all technology centers,” said Phil Berkenbile, state director. “We want to ensure our resources are used properly and that Oklahomans can know that we are providing the best service possible.”
