CareerTech Addresses Healthcare Workforce Issues

On Sept. 6, 27 technology center teams participated in the Healthcare Summit held on the Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Reno Campus.

Sr. Research Analyst Steven Barker at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce presented the State of the State address. Vice President of Communications Sheryl McLain at the Oklahoma Hospital Association delivered the state Health Care Report.

The three goals of the Summit were to:

Familiarize Career and Technology Education Leadership with Oklahoma’s Health Care Industry Workforce Report

Identify and prioritize CTE strategies in response to report recommendations

Review local data for health program delivery, strengthen local strategies and determine next steps

Summit recommendations can be grouped into several broad categories including partnerships, funding, clinical experience and instruction, staffing and student recruitment.
