Canadian Valley Technology Center To Offer Cyber Security Seminars By Mena Ganesan El Reno – Canadian Valley Technology Center will offer new seminars to help the local residents learn skills to protect their home and office computers from hackers, cyber predators, pornography and identity thieves. “Cyber crimes yield more cash than drugs,” said Neil Blitzer, CVTC information technology consultant. “Global cyber crime generated more than $105 billion last year, which was more world wide revenue than drug trafficking.”
CVTC will offer four, 20-minute training seminars. These free seminars will educate the public on various cyber security issues, including: Protecting Children from Cyber Predators, Avoiding ID Theft and Email Phishing Scams, Electronic Commerce Safety and Computer Security Overview. CVTC instructors will travel to local businesses and organizations to teach community members basic safeguards to protect themselves and their families from cyber threats. “Retailers, church groups, public libraries, Lions Clubs, Rotary Club meetings, or any organizations who have computer users, can schedule a time and date for our presenters to go to their workplace or meeting site as an added convenience,” said David Murphy, CVTC adult and continuing education coordinator. “For anyone who uses a computer at work or at home, these seminars are essential,” Murphy said. CVTC also offers customized industry training for groups of four or more on cyber security issues at a minimal cost. For more information or to enroll in the course, contact David Murphy at 405.422.2272 or email mmurphy@cvtech.org.
