Professional Development

Summer National Board Training - Education Leadership Oklahoma provides a two-day National Board Training workshop every summer. This workshop is ONLY for National Board Candidates for the 2008-2009 school year. You MUST have filled out the application on the National Board website www.nbpts.org  , paid the $65 non refundable application fee and obtain a candidate ID number and be committed to the process for the 2008-2009 school year, in order to attend the workshop.

ProStart Workshop - June 24 - 25, 2008 (Tuesday and Wednesday) at Platt College, North Campus. ProStart: basic skills, competition preparation, menu ideas, etc. and networking. Please remember that occupational certification is required for those teaching ProStart.  Attached is the registration form with information about the workshop. NBPTS ASSESSORS - TEACHERS NEEDED!  The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is currently accepting applications for the TULSA 2008 summer scoring session. National Board Information

The Art Institute in Dallas is offering a Summer Institute for adults on June 16-19. The workshop cost is $95. Participants will be responsible for their own transportation and lodging. Curriculum/Supplement Material/Testing Information

2008 New FACS Curriculum - details about curriculum

Financial Literacy standards have not been adopted yet.  Remember, this requirement begins with students who are in 7th grade in 2008.  Financial literacy is a requirement for the Class of 2014!

Textbook Adoption - The textbook committee is reviewing Careertech books this year, 2008. FACS and other Careertech teachers will examine books during the 2008-09 school year for use beginning August 1, 2009.

Revised Safety Tests
  -  Find new versions of the safety tests on the ALCA website at  http://icat.okcareertech.org/facs  under "FACS Courses/Resources".  Tests and answer keys are available to print as Word documents.
