P rogram DescriptionFamily and Consumer Sciences Education programs include components for Family and Consumer Sciences, Occupational Family and Consumer Sciences, and Occupational Services. The programs are similar in subject areas but different in major purpose as explained below:
Family and Consumer Sciences teaches students skills to function as individuals and family members throughout their life span in managing the challenges of living and working in a diverse, global society. The relationship between work and family is a unique focus. Occupational Family and Consumer Sciences prepares students with job skills for one of the following family and consumer sciences occupations: Early Care and Education These programs prepare individuals to enter employment and to advance in one or more careers within a career major in a career cluster. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America serves as the careertech student organization for Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapters provide members opportunities to assume leadership roles at the local, district, region, state, and national levels. Chapter members create and execute projects that address concerns such as:
