Definition:
Perkins IV Legislation requires every recipient to offer CTE programs, where funds are being used, that meet the definition of size, scope, and quality:
At least one career cluster, pathway and state-recognized career major is offered in each program area that is currently provided, i.e. Agriculture, BITE/ME, F&CS, Health, Technology Ed/T&I.
A plan of study is in place for each student in the career major that identifies recommended academic and technical courses, which connect to postsecondary education.
Each CTE course has a syllabus that identifies academic and technical knowledge and skills
State and National industry recognized assessments are used.
Career major must lead to industry recognized credential, license, or certificate and or path to two-year or four-year college level certificates or degrees.
Labor Market Information:
High Skill:
Occupations that require industry recognized certificates, credentials, postsecondary training, apprenticeship, or degrees for employment.
High Wage:
Occupations with a statewide average hourly rate equal to or greater than the average hourly rate of all occupations as reported by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. The current statewide average hourly rate is 13.75 in Oklahoma according to the Oklahoma Wage Network.
High Demand:
Occupations in which state, local, or regional labor market indicators show employment demand exceeds supply.
