Roy Stewart

In a journalism career that spanned more than 60 years, the late Roy P. Stewart was an author, historian, and newsman. His column “Country Boy” linked him with thousands of Oklahomans. He also wrote numerous magazine articles and books. Although born in Tennessee in 1905, Roy spent most of his life in Oklahoma. As a staff member of The Oklahoman, he worked as assistant reporter, city editor, Washington correspondent, roving feature writer, and editorial writer. Stewart was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame. After retiring from The Oklahoman, he served as
executive director of the State Advisory Council on Vocational
Education from 1970 to 1985. Mr. Stewart was inducted to the CareerTech Hall of Fame in 1990.
