Introduction to Career Clusters Powerpoint
Here is a powerpoint presentation that was designed to help you introduce career clusters to comprehensive schools. The powerpoint is geared towards counselors but could be used with teachers and administrators as well You are welcome to use the powerpoint as is or adapt it more to your specific location. This powerpoint can also be found on our guidance website under the bulletin board.
Here are guidelines for you to review about using assessment results for appropriate program placement into technology center programs/career majors. Resources for Coping with Traumatic Stress
Despite events in recent years, schools remain a very safe place for children to spend their days. In fact, the majority of children and youth homicides occur outside school hours and property. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has assembled a collection of resources on violence prevention to help parents, students, and school personnel cope with the aftermath of a traumatic event. It includes tips for parents, students and school personnel.

Suicide Resource/Training
Did you know the second leading cause of death for Oklahoma youth ages 10-24 is suicide? The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services offers a free training. It is called "QPR" (Question, Persuade and Refer) which trains adults on being aware and recognizing suicidal behaviors/statements, how to persuade someone to get help, and where to find assistance. This training is free, lasts about one and a half hours and is accompanied by reference materials. Call WyAngela Knight-Singh at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for more information at (405) 522-8774.
