  • Biology Endorsement Review (October 30, 2009, January 8, 2010 and April 2, 2010)                                                           
    Istructors who will be taking the Biology Certification examination for teachers should consider taking this course. All aspects of the assessment will be covered including each of the five categories of suggested topics and special consideration on the constructed response portion. This session will be delivered three separate times during the school year. Participants can help guide the instruction by using a question/answer format outlining areas of concern.
     
  • Program Management (November 17, 2009)
    For all instructors who have questions about program management, this workshop will include review of foundational classroom tools such as grading systems, program handbooks, course syllabi, assessment, clinical management, advisory committees and student leadership organizations. This will prepare you for the five year program accreditation visit done by ODCTE staff.
     
  • Anatomy in Clay Basic (January 13 & 14, 2010)
    This two day course implements a hands-on method of instruction which is taught to educators in a train-the-trainer environment by a master teacher. Participants will use modeling clay and a 1/3 scale skeletal model to build body structures including a variety of systems including digestive, circulatory, nervous, muscular, lymphatic and more.
     
  • Anatomy in Clay Advanced (January 15, 2010)
    Participants who have completed the Anatomy in Clay Basic course are recommended to take this advanced course that teaches another way to build and focuses on pathophysiology and body systems.
     
  • Item Writing-Basic (February 11, 2010)
    Foundational components of item writing will be discussed including construction of items, alignment of items to test plan, and basic do's and don'ts of item writing. Participants will bring resources to construct multiple choice items in the course of their choosing.
     
  • Item Writing-Advanced (March 9, 2010)
    Participants will build upon foundations of item writing, and discover how to construct advanced items that enhance critical thinking skills. Instructors will bring resources to construct multiple choice items in the course items in the course of their choosing.
     
  • Program Accreditation Preparation (April 21, 2010)
    Specifically designed for those program directors or instructors who will be participating in a national accreditation visit within the next two years, or for those interested in seeking accreditation. All aspects of program management will be discussed and insight gained from those who have been part of an accreditation team. Bring all accreditation materials including the self study and documentation for review.
