Summer Conference
The 42nd Annual Oklahoma Career and Technology Education Summer Conference was held on August 4- 6, 2009, at the Cox Convention Center, in Oklahoma City. It proved to be a very successful conference and consensus was that our teachers walked away from the conference with creative and vital ways they can immediately implement in a classroom setting.
Be sure to visit the CareerTech Summer Conference website for more information on this year's conference. The address is www.okcareertech.org/confer/summer.

H&R Block Dollars & Sense
H&R Block is providing Personal Finance curriculum that is interactive, computer-based learning that will teach students the essentials of personal finance, like how to balance a checkbook, avoid credit card debt, open a savings account and even manage their taxes.
They will also work throughout the program to help parents talk to their teens about money and sound financial habits. Click here for more information about the Dollars & Sense program, or visit their website at www.hrblockdollarsandsense.com.
Membership Campaign
DECA's Membership Campaign is an exciting way for all DECA Chapters to increase their visibility of the organization and the excellent work that it does. This year the National DECA theme is "LIVE.LEARN.LEAD," while the Oklahoma DECA theme is "EXPLORE.DREAM.DISCOVER."
Both themes are meant to encourage students to get involved in their community through leadership development, vocational understanding, civic consciousness and social intelligence. By doing this, the chapter can create goodwill with community leaders, school staff and administrators and, in the process, recruit new members.
Achieving the top level of the Membership Campaign means that the chapter has made an impression on the community and it means special recognition for the chpater at the International Career Development Conference where representatives of the chapter are invited to appear on stage.
In order to achieve the Diamond Level, all Membership Campaign activities must be promotional in nature and therefore, must include or be visible to people who are not current DECA members.
It is important that DECA membership get involved by concentrating their efforts on the local or the global community. Everyone can "LIVE.LEARN.LEAD" by taking advantage of the opportnitites as we "EXPLORE.DREAM.DISCOVER."
For Membership Campaign Activities go to www.deca.org/campaignactivities.html. You can choose to do some of these activities or think of your own. Following the standard activities list, you will find a few very creative ways that DECA chapters have participated in the campaign throughout the years.
