Oklahoma Restaurant Association

Amount: Determined by the Education Committee

The Oklahoma Restaurant Association provides scholarships to those who are really committed to a career in restaurant management and who have outstanding abilities adaptable to the restaurant industry. These scholarships are for courses of study taught at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, or Oklahoma State University, Okmulgee.

The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage and assist qualified young men and women to enter the food-service industry in Oklahoma.

Applicants for these scholarships may be recommended by their

  • School Superintendent
  • Faculty Guide Counselor
  • Oklahoma Restaurateur

Selection of the recipient of an award is based on their:

  1. Interest in the Food-Service Industry
  2. Character and personal qualifications
  3. Leadership abilities
  4. Scholarship standing in the graduating class
  5. Degree of need for assistance or deserved recognition
  6. Experience in the Food-Service Industry (6 months minimum)

First, the Application Form (in the State DECA Membership Guide) should be completed by the applicant. Second, the Nomination Form should be filled out by the person making the nomination. The Scholarship Application should then be returned, by the nominator, to the Oklahoma Restaurant Association, 3800 North Portland, Oklahoma City, OK 73112 by February 1. Third, the TRANSCRIPT MUST ACCOMPANY APPLICATION.

The ORA scholarship is paid directly to the school attended. The amount is determined by the Education Committee. The school notifies the ORA when the recipient is enrolled. Half of the scholarship is paid each term.
