THEN: Wanting to learn more about business and how to work within a business in the real world. Marketing education and DECA helped Abraham learn

  • Leadership skills, now being used for taking the role of leader and guiding shipmates.
  • To follow, overcome problems and present himself professionally.
  • To work as a team and ask the right questions.
  • The value of completing daily tasks – no matter how small – for the success of the mission.

NOW: Joining the U.S. Navy following high school graduation, Abraham is now stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Washington. He plans to advance in rank with the Navy.

"Choosing one of the marketing classes is one of the best decisions you can make while in high school to start the growth of great leadership and understanding. It will prepare you for what is out there in the real world.

"To this day, I still refer to what my CareerTech teacher taught me and use it in the military to get the job done right. She taught me that communication skills are key and how to present myself well, even now in my uniform."
