Accreditation training completed
Accreditation training wrapped up Feb. 25. More than 245 people received training on the quality indicators used for the pilot accreditation process. Twenty-six technology centers participated in the training as well as multiple ODCTE staff members. A special thank you to the 10 people in the Performance Improvement and Innovation Team for organizing and facilitating the 26 training sessions. The PIIT Crew has also dedicated time to work individually with schools piloting the accreditation process and meeting the quality indicators for accreditation as established by the State Board of Career and Technology Education.
CareerTech making a difference
Check out the four feature stories at NewsOK.com highlighting health care professions, IT programs, business and industry partners and automotive training at Canadian Valley Technology Center. The Oklahoman also highlighted Guthrie FFA, one of the largest FFA chapters in Oklahoma, in a story that tells how members learn agricultural skills, but also learn life and career skills. FFA is one of seven CareerTech student organizations.
Assessment opportunities being planned
Since June, 48 instructors from a variety of CTE programs have attended item-writing workshops sponsored by the Testing Division. Attendees felt the training was useful, increased their knowledge of and comfort with the test development process and provided information and tools to improve the quality of classroom assessments. They asked that we continue this effort by convening instructors to write, review and validate test items. It would provide a worthwhile activity to meet professional development requirements while improving our agency’s competency assessments. We are identifying dates for these sessions. We’re also scheduling spring/summer test reviews for the 2015-16 academic year. Instructors interested in participating in either or both of these activities can contact Caitlin Ellis at 405-743-5196 or Caitlin.firstname.lastname@example.org.
