Special thank you to Express Employment Professionals

Express Employment Professionals sponsored four awards totaling $40,000 to honor the OkACTE award winners at Summer Conference: Support Staff Member of the Year Susan Bymaster; New Teacher of the Year Dexter Matlock; Postsecondary Teacher of the Year Nancy Howell; and Teacher of the Year Janet Harris.

Bob Funk, CEO and chairman of the board for Express Employment Professionals stated, “Sponsoring these awards is our way of encouraging CareerTech educators that their work matters profoundly. We also wanted to give them a boost in classroom resources to help equip students to succeed in life and the workplace.”

CareerTech is grateful for this support and honored to have CareerTech professionals recognized for their hard work and dedication in the education profession.

35 individuals receive top awards, 16 schools receive Gold Star awards

Also at Summer Conference, Canadian Valley Technology Center Superintendent Greg Winters received the Francis Tuttle Career Excellence Award, and ODCTE Project Coordinator Shari Goad received the Arch Alexander Award. In addition, 35 educators and staff members received top awards, and 16 schools received Gold Star awards.

The difference YOU make

Glen Boyer, director of marketing and communications, Great Plains Technology Center, shared the following video that the tech center’s marketing department and Video Instructor/Producer Dan Tibbs created as a tribute to Great Plains instructors and staff. Thank you for producing a video to remind all of us the impact CareerTech professionals have on the lives of individuals. Well done! http://youtu.be/9T9N01EYjW4

Great Summer Conference

Congratulations to all the newly elected officers and award winners. Thank you to all the staff who helped make this conference a great event. We would like to use your feedback — what was good about the conference and what can be improved — to make decisions when we begin planning next year’s conference. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and give us your thoughts.

Continuous School Improvement workshop

The first continuous school improvement workshop exceeded 950 participants. Through the great work of the CSI committee, Shari Goad, Michelle Keylon, LaMecia Stidham, Rae Ann Shafer, Gina Hubbard, Donna Metcalf, Stephanie Simon, Jayne Huffman and Mary Craft, CareerTech offered a workshop with a variety of speakers and innovative ideas for school improvement. To fulfill multiple requests for the presentation material, we will provide a link to workshop participants when it is available.

CtYou.org is now live

www.ctYou.org is up and running! The agency’s new learning management system was rolled out at Summer Conference and has quickly grown to more than 781users and 328 courses built. We are encouraged by the positive response to the system, which provides state staff and instructors with an easy-to-use communication and resource sharing tool. It also provides a space for instructors to build their own online courses. For information on using ctYou, contact Margi Cooper at .

Also, coming soon is the related enterprise system, www.ctYouniverse.com, which will provide online standards, curriculum, courses and assessments.

One final note: The agency’s contract with iCAT will end Sept. 28. If you have resources on iCAT and would like directions on how to save and move them to another LMS, contact Margi.
