Quite frankly I was nervous, back in November.

Our annual Tasting Party was planned during a rather frenetic season of change at the Agency, with employees packing boxes, welcoming new neighbors, preparing to assume new responsibilities…we weren’t sure if hosting the event would compound the stress or add a much-needed respite.

I needn’t have worried.

Over the years the Tasting Party has morphed into a fundraiser for needy families as well as a delicious holiday treat, and this year we re-defined success for that party! We had a great turnout and we made enough money from donations to help our original family (through Meridian Technology Center’s Christmas Wish program) and also help THREE other causes.

We provided Christmas for a Meridian student and her two young sons, we joined forces with OSU to help a family with three teenagers who had recently lost their father in a traffic accident, and we helped Payne County Youth Services set up a household for a single mom and her son.

We had enough money left over to make a donation to the Payne County Youth Shelter, which they plan to use to buy video games and movies for the kids at the shelter.

Thanks to all who baked, decorated, sent recipes, formatted and printed, shopped, donated, or just ate. It was a lot of fun, and it was great to be able to turn a holiday party into holiday magic for several needy individuals.
