Course Title
Advanced Routing and Remote Access Networks
Course Description
Students will cover curriculum pertaining to advanced routing and remote access, which is the first half of four courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) designation.

Routing, Switching, and WAN Technologies (Cisco Level III and IV) |
Knowledge and Skills

Design, configure, maintain and scale routed networks.

Perform tasks related to IP addressing crisis and solutions, VLSM, route summarization, private addressing, DHCP, and advanced IP addressing.

Perform tasks related to routing, floating static routes, convergence, and route calculation and routing information protocol configuration.

Configure and monitor Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).

Configure and monitor Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol

Perform tasks related to Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS) Routing Protocol operation, routing, configuration and integration.

Perform tasks related to key IOS route optimization features, including routing update control, policy-based routing, and route redistribution.

Perform tasks related to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), including operation, neighbor negotiation, using Cisco IOS to configure BGP and verify its operation, BGP peering, and the routing process.

Select and implement appropriate Cisco IOS services required to build Intranet remote access links.

Assemble and cable WAN components.

Configure asynchronous interfaces and terminal lines.

Verify modem auto configuration.

Configure a dial-up connection to connect to the network using Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) at the data link layer, including configuration options for Authentication, Callback, Compression, and Multilink PPP (MLP)

Demonstrate an understanding of Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) technologies.

Configure ISDN using the Cisco IOS.

Compare/Contrast legacy dial-on-demand routing (DDR) configurations to newer methods of DDR configuration using dialer profiles.

Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to the benefits and requirements of Frame Relay technology.

Explain how the customer perceives Frame Relay traffic shaping, including rate enforcement, rate adoption, and queuing.

Establish a backup link to provide connectivity when the permanent connection fails.

Implement queuing and compression techniques to handle congestion on WAN links.
-
Configure Network Address Translation (NAT) functions.

Configure and use Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) security services.

Use broadband for remote access to a central site.

Exhibit an understanding of VPN concepts, processes, and procedures that are available in Cisco IOS software on router products.
