CareerTech Champion and Front Page Selection Process

Mission:

To strategically tell the CareerTech story by highlighting the successful experiences of people.

Goals:

  • To introduce the general public to the CareerTech system through the use of real stories by people who attribute their success to CareerTech programs.
  • To illustrate all facets Oklahoma’s CareerTech system and its impact on people’s lives and the economic development of our state through success stories of CareerTech alumni and business partners.
  • To create Key Communicators at the grass roots level through public recognition of successful CareerTech alumni and business partners.
  • To encourage people to submit Champion stories, providing an ongoing stream of illustrative success stories.

Note: Champion selection is strategic, not competitive. Front-page Web site Champions are selected according to the value of meeting the goals of the Champion Campaign.

If selected, Champions:

  1. Must sign a release allowing the agency to use their image and/or story in system, state and national publications, for electronic media . . . who knows . . . even for a billboard.
  2. Are entered in the Champion database that includes story progress and process.
  3. Rotate through the state CareerTech web site front page.
  4. Create a “bird’s eye view” illustrating how all forms of education work together for the success of the student/customer/client.
  5. Stories that are published are tracked and documented in our database.

Since it would be easy to fill the site from just one or two programs, some key elements are considered in the selection process.

  • Is the story compelling or unique?
  • Does the story illustrate the importance of CareerTech education/training or the student organization in the success of the student/client?
  • Has enough information about the Champion been submitted for consideration? i.e.
  • How will the story add to the overall equity and balance of the site?

Considerations (In no particular order):

  • Occupational programs
  • Student organizations
  • Technology centers
  • Comprehensive programs
  • Business and Industry
  • Gender equity
  • Ethnicity
  • Disabilities
  • Type of training
  • Type of career

The more information about the person and contact information provided, the more likely that champion will be selected.

A Cautionary Note: We cannot guarantee publication of all submissions.
Please take care not to build expectations in the individuals whose life stories you are submitting. Because of the strategic criteria for the agency’s Champion Web site, the number of Champions posted on the Web site are limited in number.

Your suggestions are appreciated and needed!
While front-page Web site Champions are few, ALL of your suggestions are entered into the Champion database. Many of Champion and success story suggestions are used as resources in other projects.

Create your own Divisional Champion Web site.
You can ensure that ALL of the great stories from your division are highlighted by posting them on your own web sites. All division web sites are linked from the front page, as well.

Please let us know if you would like ideas or help in creating your own Champion Web site.

And please CONTINUE to submit your “Champions” – whether a person or a business – at: http://www.okcareertech.org/pio/champs/champsearch.htm

Thanks!
Your Communications and Marketing Division
