Oklahoma Student Elected BPA National Secondary President David Roberts, a business and information technology education student and recent graduate of McCurtain High School, was recently elected as Business Professionals of America (BPA) national secondary president at the National Leadership Conference held recently in Dallas, Texas.
“What makes our organization the success it is today is the citizenship possessed by all of its members,” Roberts said. “Today’s students become tomorrow’s business professionals. My vision for our national organization is to promote local, state and national leadership seminars while increasing membership by recruiting at least one new chapter per state.” BPA is
a student organization associated with business and information technology
education, and is sponsored at the state level by the Oklahoma Department
of Career and Technology Education. As the national secondary president, Roberts will represent the student body on a national level. This includes traveling to states to promote BPA, serving on the board of trustees, and presiding over all meetings, Taylor said. Roberts will be attending Northeastern State University in Tahlequah this fall where he plans to major in business administration with a minor in political science. From there his plans are to enter the Oklahoma political arena or study law at The University of Oklahoma. BPA is one of seven CareerTech student organizations in Oklahoma. Together, these organizations have more than 80,000 high school and adult students. Many students are enrolled in more than one of these occupational programs and are members of multiple student organizations. The seven student organizations and programs they support are: Business Professionals of America (BPA), business and information technology education; DECA, marketing education; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), family and consumer sciences education; FFA, agricultural education; Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), health occupations education; SkillsUSA-VICA, trade and industrial education; and Technology Student Association (TSA), technology education. posted 6/25/03 Related Links |
