Senator Kenneth Corn recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award

State Senator Kenneth Corn, D-Howe, was presented one of Oklahoma’s most prestigious CareerTech awards during the 2004 Career and Technology Education Summer Conference. The conference, hosted by the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education (OkACTE), was held Aug. 3-5 at the Tulsa Convention Center.

OkACTE is the professional organization for the state's CareerTech administrators, teachers, and staff members

Sen. Corn received the Distinguished Service Award that recognizes individuals or organizations outside the field of career and technology education for meritorious contributions to the significant statewide improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technology education, according to Phil Berkenbile, CareerTech state director.

“As a high school student in Poteau, Kenneth Corn served two terms as State President and one term as National President of Future Business Leaders of America, the CareerTech student organization affiliated with business and information technology education, Berkenbile said. “During that time, he also served on the National School-to-Work Advisory Council.”

Sen. Corn served two terms in the Oklahoma House of Representatives before being elected to the State Senate at the age of 26. He is the youngest of our Senators today.

“Sen. Corn is passionate about CareerTech,” Berkenbile said. “He is always working to assure that more students have opportunities to reach their potential through programs provided by CareerTech.”
