OkACTE is the professional organization for the state's CareerTech administrators, teachers, and staff members. Rep. Pope received the Distinguished Service Award that recognizes individuals or organizations outside the field of career and technology education for meritorious contributions to the significant statewide improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technology education, according to Phil Berkenbile, CareerTech state director. With roots in Oklahoma’s CareerTech system from high school days, Clay Pope was active in public speaking within his agriculture program. In 1989, he was honored with an American FFA Degree. “Today,
while serving in the House of Representatives and on the Appropriations
and Budget Subcommittee on Education, Rep. Pope has always sought
to represent the interests of the CareerTech system,” Berkenbile
said. “He will be greatly missed as he leaves the legislature
to pursue another career. Rep. Clay Pope truly is a CareerTech
champion.” |
