Training for Industry in Oklahoma - April


Officials from several technology centers in Oklahoma’s CareerTech system announced that training will be provided to local businesses and industries through the Training for Industry Program (TIP).

Local technology center staff will provide the training and training-related services for each of the following companies:

  • Central Technology Center will train 150 new employees for Arrow Trucking Company.
  • Francis Tuttle Technology Center will train 80 new employees for JASCO Products Company.
  • Francis Tuttle Technology Center will train 56 new employees for G C Services, a company working in the areas of tax and debt collection.
  • Mid-America Technology Center will train 3 new employees for RiskMetrics Group. The company compiles financial data from around the world for utilization by market analysts.
  • Pioneer Technology Center will assist in training 27 new employees for Mertz, Inc., a company that manufactures geophysical vehicles, firefighting apparatuses, and agricultural vehicles.
  • Tulsa Technology Center will train 54 new employees for Franklin Collectin Services, Inc., a debt collection service company.
  • Wes Watkins Technology Center will train 15 new employees for Sertco Industries, Inc., a company that produces natural gas compressors for the oil field industry.

The training will be funded from the TIP budget through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (ODCTE).

TIP, established in 1968, has helped attract hundreds of businesses and industries to Oklahoma and has played a key role in helping businesses become more productive and profitable after they arrive.

Vikki Dearing, Business and Industry Development manager at the state CareerTech agency, said the industry training program continues to work with targeted companies to help expand their work force and to improve the Oklahoma economy.

During Fiscal Year 03, TIP served 85 firms in Oklahoma through more than 17,542 worker enrollments.

“The work force trained from these expanding companies represents growth in the Oklahoma economy. TIP continues to play a crucial role in Oklahoma's economic growth, stability and prosperity,” Dearing said.

“In addition to start-up training, we have the ability to provide ongoing customized upgrade training for companies at a significant cost saving. Last year more than 2,500 organizations kept their employees on the leading edge by taking advantage of this resource,” she said.

CareerTech programs and services, located on 54 technology center campuses, are in place to help Oklahoma’s businesses and skilled workers achieve their goals.

“Our mission is to prepare Oklahomans for success in the workplace,” Dearing said. “By stimulating the state’s economic recovery, CareerTech plays a vital role in securing Oklahoma’s future.”
