Members of the Teacher Induction System Team designed to support and retain CareerTech instructors were recently recognized at the Governor’s Quality Oklahoma Team Day at the State Capitol. Application of this program has saved Oklahomans more than $1.6 million through retaining its CareerTech instructors during the past five years.

Team members shown from the left include Oscar Jackson, who presented the team with its award. Jackson is the administrator and cabinet secretary of Human Resources and Administration. Also shown are Dr. Virginia Osgood, retired/associate professor emeritus at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO); Dr. Jim Strate, superintendent of Autry Technology Center, Enid; Karen Warner, coordinator of Instructional Services at the Oklahoma Dept. of CareerTech (ODCTE); Dr. Gayle Kearns, chairperson and professor at the UCO; Karen Sneary, UCO instructor; Lynne Hughes, Instructional Services coordinator at ODCTE; Dr. Judy Robinson, assistant superintendent of Central Technology Center, Drumright; Dr. Mary Jo Self, assistant professor of Occupational Education Studies at Oklahoma State University; Cindy Neptune, Teacher Induction field representative, Occupational Education Studies at OSU; and Clarence Fortney, director of Adult Training and Instructional Development at Great Plains Technology Center, Lawton.
