High School Administrators’ Program Graduates Thirty Thirty public school administrators from across Oklahoma participating in this year’s High School Administrators’ Program (HSAP), sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. The program is a series of two-day workshops held at various CareerTech sites across Oklahoma. The final workshop was held at the Lexington Correctional Facility in the Career Tech Skills Center on Nov. 15th. Lexington is one of 25 Career Tech Skills Centers located behind prison walls. “This program helps administrators better understand the CareerTech system,” said Ronnie Owens, regional administrator at the state’s CareerTech agency. “They also learn of the latest information on career options as they relate to CareerTech programs offered both at their schools and at their local technology centers.” Session topics include career and technology education program content and standards, teacher activities and responsibilities, student organizations, relationships with technology centers, and integrating of academic skills. Phil Berkenbile, state Career Tech director, said the program helps participants understand Career Tech’s education goals and purposes. "These school administrators play a very important role in helping us build Oklahoma Career Tech’s national reputation,” said Berkenbile. “Working together ensures educational programs are high quality and up-to-date."
