Idaho Delegation To Explore Oklahoma’s CareerTech System A group of educators and community leaders from Idaho will be coming to Oklahoma Oct. 24-26 to tour technology center campuses and gain information about several facets of the state’s CareerTech system. The group, led by Mark Cotner, executive director of the Canyon Owyhee School Service Agency, will tour Central Technology Center, Sapulpa; Mid-Del Technology Center, Midwest City; and Green County Technology Center, Okmulgee. They will be discussing technology centers’ relationships with partner schools, funding, alternative high school, college credit and serving secondary and post-secondary students. “Oklahoma has long been recognized as a leader in Career and Technical education,” said Cotner. “Our group from Idaho will be looking at ways we can enhance the education and training services to our students and the communities we serve in Idaho.” Among the Idaho delegation are representative from Boise State University, several public school superintendents, representatives Boise School System, legislators and the board chairperson of the Cooperative Council of School Administration. “Idaho’s Career and Technical education programs provide graduates with both the skills necessary to enter the workforce as well as college credits through articulation agreements with area colleges,” said Cotner. “We hope to identify areas in which we can expand our college agreements to better provide a seamless system of education for Idaho’s students.”
