Web page Development Guidlines
These guidelines will help you create a division home page. Our site has been developed so that each page links to our website to create a big picture of the agency's services. Your division site is an integral component of this and should be consistent within that framework to make the whole effective.
Planning Your Division Home Page
- To gain an understanding of the Department's web site, design and philosophy, first review Department's web policies.
- Establish your division's web site purpose and objectives. To accomplish this, you'll want to meet with other staff members in your division to gain their input and cooperation.
- Plan and prioritize content for your web page by using the web page planning template and template instructions. A good website on web management is here.
- Create a storyboard to visualize your site, including all links.
- Plan implementation strategy and resource needs.
- Plan to meet with Nalini about file names and folder names before you begin. This step is very important.
See file naming here
- Gather artwork, images, logos (a folder of artwork is already available on our website). Copy and paste any desired artwork on your web page (from that folder, from your own created artwork or for which you have written permission). No alterations of the CareerTech logo in any form are permitted.
- You can use supplied templates in Microsoft Frontpage or the template in the artwork folder and make the needed changes to fit your division.
- In order to maintain visual continuity within the CareerTech website, a core group of colors and styles have been identified. It is strongly suggested that all pages within our website adhere to these suggested colors and styles. Any variance should be submitted to the webmaster for approval prior to posting.
- Develop easy navigation links.
- Test links, file names, spell check.
- Acessibility is required so make sure it meets the guidlines. See page
- Make sure your division supervisor approves your divisional content.
- First time sites must be reviewed by the agency's webmaster.
- After that review, you may upload to our server. (Contact Nalini Hosur in Systems Design and Computer Services for instructions)
- Review and update all pages within the first five working days of each month.
