| Special Restrictions | All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. All applicants must have an entry score of at least 5.1 on the T.A.B.E. test and have their high school diploma or G.E.D. either prior to enrollment or prior to completion of the probationary period. Must be D.O.C. classified as Level 3 or 4. All applicants must be eligible for OCI placement at the Joseph Harp Correctional Center and not be eligible for lower than medium security before program completion. |
| Course Description | The Modular Home Construction Academy trains inmates in all aspects of home framing, along with exercises in cognitive and psychomotor skills, with a strong emphasis on safety. Inmates will construct modular houses “from the ground up” at both the CareerTech and O.C.I. sites. |
| Certifications | Overall competencies will be given in Construction Safety and Carpentry, with component, ODCTE Competencies being assessed in the areas of Construction Trainee, Drywall Installation, Form Carpentry, Frame Carpentry, Finish Carpentry, Roofer, Cabinetmaking Helper, Life Skills: Seeking and Securing Employment, Life Skills: Family Relations, Character, & Business, and Life Skills: Legal, Finances, & Human Relations. |
