Competitive Events Modification - HS
*Students in Grade 9-12. Ninth-grade students from the same chapter must choose to compete in all Level I or all Level II events. They cannot compete at both levels.

2. Architectural Renovation - Not current for 2013Coordinator: Chris Buster, 580-654-2886, cbuster@carnegienet.net
-The challenge for 2012 is to design a senior citizen daycare. -Architectural Model (with chapter and contestant name attached to bottom of side board) -A portfolio (standard 1” three-ring binder) must be submitted with the model and have the chapter/contestant name on the back. -There will be no onsite interview -Maximum size of site board is 24” square. -Eligibility: Chapters may submit up to three entries |
3. Biotechnology Design - Not current for 2013Coordinator: Mike Bobbitt, tech@hominy.k12.ok.us
-Display may not exceed 15" deep x 3' wide x 4' high. -Entries must be started and completed during the current school year. -For 2012: Students select a contemporary biotechnology problem that relates to Pharmaceutical/Agricultural chemicals and demonstrates understanding of the problem through research, a solution, a display, and a multimedia presentation. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to two team of two. |

-In 2013 research each of the following 3 careers: -Computer software specialist -Film and video editor -Biomedical engineer -Participants turn in their notebook that contains the chosen technology related career area, the three different careers in the given area, and the prepared resume and cover letter for the chosen careers. -Fill out applications on site (bring blue/black ink pen) -Top 12 finalist will be interviewed -Eligibility: Entries are limited to three students per chapter. |

-A high school competitor must compete in high school Chapter Team only. A ninth grade student must choose Level I or Level II. -There will be no online test. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to two team of six per chapter. Teams do not have to be elected officers of the local TSA chapter. |

-Participants bring hardware, software, and equipment for the event. A hardware profile form for each student will not be necessary. -At state students may compete in both Architectural and Engineering CAD, however if you place and are eligible for nationals you will need to choose only one to compete in. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to three students per chapter. |
7. CAD, Engineering with AnimationCoordinator: Sammy Drinkard, sdrinkard@hugoschools.com
-The time limit for state conference will be 2 hours, not 4 hours which are allowed at national conference. -Participants bring hardware, software, and equipment for the event. A hardware profile form for each student will not be necessary. -Students will be required to burn their animation to a CD or DVD in AVI or MOV file format. -At state students may compete in both Architectural and Engineering CAD, however if you place and are eligible for nationals you will need to choose one. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to three students per chapter. |

10. Debating Technological IssuesCoordinator: Frankie Franklin, tommychuck75@yahoo.com -2013: Social Media -Subtopic 1 - Should your use of social media, on or off the job, affect your employment status? -Subtopic 2 - Does the use of social media increase the risk of identity theft? -Subtopic 3 - Should providers/creators of social media sites be held liable for the negative impacts that may result from their use, such as bullying, predatory stalkings, etc? -Eligibility: Entries are limited to one team of two members. |

-Participants must check in their portfolio of materials at the time specified in the conference program. -Per National TSA in addition to the items required you will need to have a cover page and a title page. -All portfolio papers are developed on 8 1/2" X 11" paper. -2013 participants are not required to bring hardware/software. -2013 no onsite problem will be assigned at the state conference. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to two students per chapter. |
12. Digital Video ProductionCoordinator: Tom Trammell, jttrammell@okcps.org -2013 theme: Follow the Rules -A video and a 8 1/2" X 11" portfolio will be turned in to the event coordinator. -Storyboard should be created PRIOR to the video production. Story board should be hand-sketched. -The film must be no less than 3 minutes and not exceed five (5) minutes in length. It must be submitted on a DVD that is a U.S. Standard Interactive DVD, ASCII-based, NTSC formatted. NOTE: ensure that the DVD works in a standard DVD player before submission. -You must bring 2 copies of the DVD in jewel cases. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to two team of three per chapter. |

-FULL SCALE drawing with metric dimensions is mad on paper no larger than 11" X 17" drawing paper - drawing must accompany dragster upon check-in. -Wind tunnel test will be performed if a wind tunnel is available. -The scoring rubric will be followed. -Review the CRC guide for all specifications. -No more than one car per student - THE CARE MUST BE DESIGNED AND BUILT BY ONE STUDENT, NOT BY A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT OF SCHOOLS OR GROUPS. CNC ENTRIES MUST HAVE SIGNIFICANT DISTINGUISHABLE DIFFERENCES. The student should be knowledgeable of how the CAD/CAM process works. -FYI future years may have an interview component in which student will be required to explain the science involved as well as the manufacturing process. This is due to too many schools entering "cookie cutter" designs. This violates the intent of this event. -Eligibility: Entries are limited to three individually produced dragsters per chapter. |
