University Requirements: (Using University of Central Oklahoma requirements as an example.)

 (For Students Admitted into Teacher Education after September 1997)

Meet a Grade Point Average of 2.75 Overall on Required Plan of Study, 2.75 Educational Courses, and 2.75 Content Courses.

Foreign Language Competency Demonstration Requirement or 6 hours with a B or better during high school.

       Complete the Student Teaching Requirement.

Complete a University Portfolio compliant with the Oklahoma Commission on Teacher Preparation Portfolio Requirements. 

For all prospective CareerTech Teachers – Complete the following SDE Requirements

• Application for Licensure/Certification
• Official transcript
• $40.00 check – (Payable to State Department of Education - SDE)

For CareerTech Teachers seeking a standard certificate, an Application from the Graduating University with recommendation from the Director of Teacher Education must be included.

For CareerTech Teachers seeking provisional or standard certification in T&I:

·       Complete a Statement of Qualifications (Form 8 ) to verify occupational qualification and send to the T&I Division, ODCTE.

For CareerTech Teachers seeking provisional or standard certification in Health:

·       Complete a Faculty Record Form to verify qualifications and send to the Health Careers Division, ODCTE

Oklahoma Commission on Teacher Preparation (OCTP) Requirements:

OCTP - Complete Test Registration Form.

$30 Processing Fee for each Test Date

$25 Late Fee

$50 Emergency Fee

$15 Changing Registration Fee (Credit card payment accepted for emergency registrations only.)

OCTP - Complete an Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET).

$50 plus processing fee

OCTP - Complete an Oklahoma Subject Area Tests (OSAT).

$70 plus processing fee

$225 – NOCTI for T&I

OCTP - Receive Test Results.  Verification from OCTP that participant has passed the appropriate test for licensure.

Score Report Reprint Fee - $20.00

Test Rescore Fee - $25.00

SDE – Complete an application for Oklahoma School license  (Higher education representative and  CareerTech State Program Administrator’s official signatures are required with notary.)   SDE reviews application/test scores and notifies applicant of eligibility.

Additional Requirements:

Have an OSBI/FBI fingerprint and criminal felony check conducted.

If needed for verification on the local level and if qualifying OSBI results have been received, a form letter can be ordered that explains that the application is being processed and a teaching certificate number issued so a salary check can be received on the local level.

OCTP - Complete an Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination (OPTE). This test is required to move from a license to a certificate.

A delinquent tax check conducted before renewal of license.
