last five years. A Form 8 must be on
file in the Trade and Industrial Education Office for all prospective teachers
before any application can be processed.

Prospective Health Teachers) Ensure
completion of the Faculty Record Form from any prospective Health teacher to verify
qualifications and send to Health Occupations Division, ODCTE.
___ Hire
new teacher.
___ Contact
appropriate ODCTE division to have New Teacher Academy invitation letter sent
to teacher. (Remember, college credit requirements begin with New Teacher
Academy.)

Ensure
teacher has contacted university to develop required plan of study.

Ensure
application has been made by teacher for teaching certificate/ license.
Applications may be obtained at www.okcareertech.org/ti/certific.htm. (Please be sure to use the most current
form. On the most current form,
teacher’s signature must be notarized.)

Ensure
registration of new teacher for CareerTech Summer Conference.
___ Acquaint mentor
and new teacher with each other with the intent of the mentor assisting the new
teacher at Summer Conference.

Assign an instructional mentor to the teacher to
serve on the Teacher Induction committee at onset of new teacher’s employment.

Complete
Form 002 of the SDE Resident Teacher Packet and send to the appropriate
division of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education,
Stillwater. Please note that the choice of higher education representative
for your committee will be based upon your school location. Please refer to the geographical policy in
the handbook.

Complete
Teacher Induction Participation Form and Contact Form, and send to ODCTE
as instructed on form.
____
Conduct
mentor orientation and training sessions for all local mentors to review local school
mentor process and coaching skills.

Contact appropriate
teacher education representative and schedule
an initial Residency/Teacher Induction meeting with all committee members.

Ensure that
the initial orientation meeting of your teacher and instructional mentor has
taken place.
____ Ensure
mentor and teacher have access to the Content Expert List provided by the
occupational division for the teacher.
September
____ Facilitate the scheduled meeting of the Residency/Teacher Induction committee to establish a Teacher Induction Plan based upon the perceived needs by the teacher and the committee. (Remember to schedule your second committee meeting before the end of this meeting. It should be scheduled before the end of December.)
____ If
desired, contact the appropriate division program administrator/specialist for
the name of a Technical Content Mentor to provide local technical content
assistance.
a.
Conduct at least three observations as a Residency/teacher
Induction committee member between September and March. Use the core concepts received within the
coaching skills training.
b.
Refer to the Effective Teaching CD modules as needed for
just-in-time resources. Please consider
your teacher’s learning style when selecting the delivery method for the module
information.
c.
Establish an observation of other teachers in any
identified areas being focused upon within the Teacher Induction Plan.

Facilitate
the second scheduled meeting of the Residency/Teacher Induction committee to
review the Teacher Induction Plan based upon the perceived needs by the teacher
and the committee.

and support ongoing communications, visits, and observations for teacher
educator and instructional mentor.
Teacher
will be guided towards strategies to prove effective teacher competency. His/her efforts can be banked in college
course requirements.
January
____ Ensure the attendance of your teacher to the Teacher Induction Follow-Up Workshop at University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, to complete college credit requirements.
February
– March
___
Ensure
and support ongoing communications, visits, and observations from teacher
educator and instructional mentor.

Contact
appropriate teacher education representative, and schedule a final
Residency/Teacher Induction meeting with all committee members.
April –
May
____ Facilitate
the final scheduled meeting of the Residency/Teacher Induction committee to
review certificate renewal and need for more technical assistance for the
second year.
____ Complete Form 003 of the SDE Resident Teacher Packet and send to the appropriate Program Administrator at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, 1500 West Seventh Avenue, Stillwater, OK 74074-4364.
