July

        

Teacher will:

 

         (New Teacher Only)

____         (For Prospective T&I Teachers) - Complete Statement of Qualifications (hereafter referred to as the "Form 8" ). verifying three years of full-time experience within the last five years. (A Form 8 must be on file in the Trade and Industrial Education office for all prospective teachers before any application can be processed.  Form can be found at www.okcareertech.org/ti/certific.htm)

____         (For Prospective Health Teachers)  Ensure completion of the Faculty Record Form from any prospective Health teacher to verify qualifications and send to Health Careers Division, ODCTE.

_____           Complete hiring forms and processes at the local school.

_____           Attend New Teacher Academy. Remember, college credit requirements begin with New Teacher Academy.  Contact your university representative to develop your required plan of study. This is required for certification.

_____           Complete application for teacher certificate/license.  (Please refer to T&I website for T&I certification requirements.)

____         Complete registration for Summer Conference.  You may register online at www.okcareertech.org/confer/summer or on site.

         (New and Experienced Teachers)

          ____       Attend Summer Conference.

_____       Participate in an initial orientation meeting of your instructional mentor, instructional leader/administrator, and teacher educator (if appropriate).

_____       Participate in the first meeting/visit with assigned mentor.

_____       Review the Content Expert List provided by your identified occupational division.

 

 

September

 

_____         Participate in the scheduled meeting for the Residency/Teacher Induction committee to establish a Teacher Induction Plan based upon the perceived needs and desired focus.

_____         Expect at least three observations for your Residency Teacher Induction committee members to assist you in identifying areas for technical assistance and teaching focus.

a.    Refer to the Effective Teaching CD modules as needed for just-in-time resources.

b.    Please consider your learning style when determining the best resources for you in the modules.

c.     Participate in an observation of other teachers in your identified areas for technical assistance focus.

 

 

October – December

 

____         Participate in the second scheduled meeting of the Residency/ Teacher Induction committee to review the Teacher Induction Plan based upon the perceived needs by the teacher and the committee.

_____           Secure, support, and maintain ongoing communications, visits, and observations from teacher educator and instructional mentor.  These efforts can be banked towards college course requirements.  Ask your university representative about this option.

 

January

 

_____           Attend the Teacher Induction Workshop Follow-Up session to complete college credit requirement.  Location and date to be announced.

 

February – March

 

_____       Secure support and maintain ongoing communications, visits, and observations from teacher educator, instructional mentor, and instructional leader.

 

April – May

 

_____       Participate in the final scheduled meeting of the Residency/Teacher Induction committee to review your certificate renewal and need for more technical assistance within your second year.

_____       Enroll in appropriate coursework for certification needs.

_____       Complete all certification renewal applications and mail to ODCTE (front page of 003, certificate application, NOCTI copy and/or transcript, and a $10 check).
