TSA HISTORY

| TSA was originally established in 1978 as the American Industrial Arts Student Association (AIASA). In 1988, AIASA changed its name to the Technology Student Association (TSA) to reflect a commitment to the dynamic field of technology and the 21st Century. With computers, robotics, and lasers becoming a vital part of todays society, TSA is training students to meet the challenges of the future. In addition, students are learning civic responsibility, leadership ability, and career opportunities. TSA is the youngest vocational student organization, with Oklahoma being one of the first 17 state associations to charter in 1978. Since then, additional states have affiliated with the national organization, bringing the total number of member states to 44. Since TSAs inception, Oklahoma has consistently been a national leader with more than 198 chapters and approximately 13,070 members. |
| TSA provides 64 competitive events in which students may participate. From Structural Engineering to Computer-Aided Drafting to public speech contest, students are developing self-motivation and building lasting friendships. Students enrolled in Technology Education at either the elementary, junior, or senior high school level are welcome to participate in this exciting organization. |
