Projects and Unique Attributions
Northwest Technology Center (NWTC) is a four-time winner of the Gold Star School award, the highest form of recognition for a technology center. NWTC prides itself on its partnerships with other technology centers, communities within its district, and its business and industry partners.
NWTC is the regional site for the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM). Students from throughout northwest Oklahoma are able to study advanced physics and mathematics.
Major partnerships are in the area of healthcare. Evidence of these partnerships can be found in the training done by NWTC for its healthcare partners and in the pursuit of healthcare training done for daytime students.
NWTC is also a part of a tech center consortium which promotes a new "seamless education initiative" with the nursing department at Northwestern Oklahoma State University where technology center students can receive college credit at a four-year university for work done at the tech center.
NWTC is a leader in training rural firefighters and workers for other emergency services. NWTC has recently enacted its "Next Step" tuition waiver. This waiver allows individuals living in the partner school districts to attend tuition free up to age 24.
NWTC strives to be a partner in all aspects of economic development, health care, and business and industry training. These vital relationships help NWTC to achieve its mission...preparing students for success
in education, careers and life. Secondary students living in the technology center district who attend a public, private, parochial, charter, or home school are eligible to attend tuition free.
